The result was certainly worth the effort.
You have given the tree a great start to what should be a top tree!

No worries Gary :-)
Maybe in 2 years I can put in the 30th School show and everyone can see it :-) :D

That would be cool

Thanks
It is doing really well. Putting on lots of new growth, but has not healed over tge scar yet. I expect that to take a good few years to dissapear

I woud recommend anyone to have a go if they have a similar one.

Had to go back ond find this thread and thought I will update
the tree has since passed on due to a watering system failure while on holidays. My neighbour turned off the sprinkler tap while we were having rain for a few days. Pity about the next 4 days that were 30 deg and dry :o :| :x :x
Before then it was growing well and the bend was sucessful in that there was no ill effects above it.

Sorry to hear that ken what a nightmare hope u didn't loose many trees . It just shows you even when you think you have everything covered . I'm sure you are ready to strangle that neighbour .
Very good post I like the idea of notching and I reckon after a few years there wouldn't be much risk of it breaking and will just keep getting stronger.

Hi KC

Very nice work, if you have a look at a post I put up on Joe Micallef, he used this some method on all his Ceder's he would bend very large trunk's & with great success way back in the very early 80's
