It is doing really well. Putting on lots of new growth, but has not healed over tge scar yet. I expect that to take a good few years to dissapear

I woud recommend anyone to have a go if they have a similar one.

Had to go back ond find this thread and thought I will update
the tree has since passed on due to a watering system failure while on holidays. My neighbour turned off the sprinkler tap while we were having rain for a few days. Pity about the next 4 days that were 30 deg and dry
Before then it was growing well and the bend was sucessful in that there was no ill effects above it.

Sorry to hear that ken what a nightmare hope u didn't loose many trees . It just shows you even when you think you have everything covered . I'm sure you are ready to strangle that neighbour .
Very good post I like the idea of notching and I reckon after a few years there wouldn't be much risk of it breaking and will just keep getting stronger.

Very nice work, if you have a look at a post I put up on Joe Micallef, he used this some method on all his Ceder's he would bend very large trunk's & with great success way back in the very early 80's
