New Japanese Maple
I picked up a new Japanese maple yesterday, it is a little big for bonsai but given a few years I might come up with something nice.

Re: New Japanese Maple
I don't mind big trees
you could lower the trunk an start another leader if you want a smaller tree. I like the gentle bend in the trunk the tree has great potential good find

Re: New Japanese Maple
Hi gerard,
If you are unsure about what type of bonsai to make from this specimen I would suggest you let the tree just grow and produce seed that you can capture to create more maple bonsai. It is almost as much fun as ramification work.
Cheers,
Brad75.

Re: New Japanese Maple
Since when did you lose the interest for large trees
I reckon it will make a stunning tree. I will help you lug it around

Re: New Japanese Maple
Lovely tree just as it is. All it needs is branch definition and development and you are gold.

Mate, she's a beauty!!
If you don't want to make her into a large bonsai, I'll kindly give her a new home
