That'd be a great idea Tony, but that root does not want to move at all, so it's just gonna have to go all together :palm:

The root has been removed, and the base now looks much more solid:

I then dusted the cut in rooting hormone and placed sphagnum up against it and covered with foil to reflect the light.

Great work, should fix it. Now, the curled root at back on the left, are you happy with that? :lost: If not, you might as well do them both at the same time.

Ah yes, good point. I'm not happy with it at all, but I think I'll wait a little bit before removing that one as well. I may just wait to remove it when I repot next. Right now I'm considering bringing it indoors....

Good thinking, I guess you are just about to come into autumn (fall) so next season would be better.

Yep we are, just under a month here until temperatures start getting too low. So I'm sure bringing it indoors wouldn't do any harm.

The new setup is all ready for this guy, I'm just running tests now to see where the humidity/heat level is at in the setup. If everything is where I want it to be, I'll move the guy into it.

Nice work and love your winter setups. I am glad that I don't have to worry about that stuff tho :-)

Yep, consider yourself lucky :P

My setups seem to work very well, especially seeing the amount of roots I can get due to the gravel trays below each tree:

And yep, nighttime humidity levels are at 84%, however it's below 60% with the light on. Hmmm.

Please please please don't turn your lovely ficus into a pine tree!!!! That last virt done by your friend was LOADs better IMHO! It is such a lovely trunk, it is just begging to be look like a ficus and not like a pine! I'm guilty of it too, but why do we all turn all our trees into pine and juniper wannabe's? :lost:

Nice tree mate!

That's about what we get here through summer, so sounds good to me. Depends on if you want to keep it on summer conditions or give it some winter. What is the temp you keep it at inside?

Coming on well FG, and love it without that root, and maybe the other one later.

Thanks Tony. The thermometer inside the setup is reading a little over 28C.
