Hi guys
My mate wants me to pull these shrubs out from his front yard, not sure what they are
The foliage has a glazed, shiny look to it.
[ID] Not sure if they are good for bonsai.

If you cant make a tree look like a tree then bonsai would difficult!!!!

I think it is probably a Hebe. There's about 90 species and more cultivars.
Very hardy, drought tolerant but not sure whether they produce woody stems. Anything is worth having a go at if collected plant is available free but I wouldn't go out of my way to start one from scratch.

I can't help but think of multiple green spiral staircases in a pot.
If its there to work with challenge yourself to learn from it.

I have dug out some impressive Hebe trunks in my time, don't discount them completely as you will no doubt make many a Kiwi very upset
