Inspiring places

Post by Tony Bebb »

On the way back from Canberra for the opening of the NBPCA, I drove the New England Highway and paid attention to where I was going as I wanted to find a park that a mate and I found some 25 years ago. I looked for it on the way home from Tops last August, but ended up driving straight passed it. I was very pleased to find it again ( although it wasn't hard) and this time took some pics. Never had a camera with me 25 years ago and it has lived in my memory ever since.

It is just south of Glenn Innes and known as Balancing Rock or Stone Henge Park. A wide variety of trees includes Cedars, Pines, Alder, Beech, English Elm, Poplar, Cypress and Hawthorn mixed with a few native species. Lots of Granite rocks with many balancing on top of each other like they have been stacked in a giants playground. A lot of the rocks have fallen over the years due to the cracking that occurs in winter as it gets very cold in the high country in this area.

A beautiful part of the world and I have always loved it around here. I took quite a few photos and will put all of them in a gallery on the blog as it easier for multiple photos there.

Hi Tony , mate there is some very inspirational and thought provoking material in these photo's . They most certainly stir the imagination and fires up the desire to create another Penjing . Its amazing how much we actually miss cruising down the road , I've kinda taken to being a passenger of late just to admire the scenery . Thanks for sharing these .

Cheers Alpine
