Hi all,
I'm sure all is good but just out of curiosity is it normal for Japanese maples to drop the odd leaf around now ?
I have a couple of bloodgood maples and its only happening with them not my other ones.
The medium has been a touch wet continuously after all the rain we've had, maybe it's that ?
Cheers Ross

Re: Maple dropping a few leaves in spring ?!
Hi Ross,
I've not grown "bloodgood", but I would not expect them to drop leaves in spring.
Is there any visible damage to the leaves?
Even with extensive water logging, I wouldn't expect leave to fall off.

There is something having a nibble on a few of the leaves but nothing that is concerning me.
Should I maybe hit it with some confidor just incase ?
Cheers Ross

Looks nice and healthy to me.
Spare your liver and hold off on the confidor till its really needed.
Just keep monitoring it, I find if I eye them suspiciously they give up on these antics.

Is that eyeing the plant, or the bugs suspiciously

I talk to things like grasshoppers and ask them nicely to leave. Though if you don't do it with complete conviction they just laugh at you and keep munching.

When you say they drop the odd leaf, do you mean, the actual leaf is in perfect health, or is it dried and fallen off, or drooped and warped or disfigured in any way?stocaz wrote:Hi all,

The odd leaf that's fallen is healthy but on the small side.bonsaibuddyman wrote:
