swamp cypress clump

I just potted up this swamp cypress clump. Goals are to continue to clip and grow the tops and start Woking on branches when it starts putting some options out. I cut it right back for potting and for now it is just recovering. I may have potted this too early but as the pot is a little oversized I am hoping it shall continue to grow/mature. Just wanted to get my start pic up here. All advice welcome

Hi Klaery,
I notice you live in Brisbane. Don't forget that the Swamp's are very thirty. I live in Sydney and I keep my tree in a water tray all summer. Give it a drink of Seasol at least once a week until you see some new growth appearing. I find that they respond to foliage feeding quite well. Have a look at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16894&hilit=+foliage+feeding When you see new growth you could introduce foliage feeding.

Thanks for the heads up Ray,
Have it in a tray will definitely be hitting it with the seasol and will give foliage feeding a go! do yours lose their leaves in winter?

Yeah, they are deciduous. They have beautiful fine foliage. They will go an autumn orange, then drop off and you'll be left with tall stick insects. They make beautiful bonsai. And they back bud all over the place each spring and summer, so they make good stock.

Hi Dan,
As bonsaibuddyman has said, they are deciduous. A couple of years ago with my first tree, I was wondering what was happening when all the leaves went completely brown and started to fall off. A quick look at the horticulture of this tree relieved my fears as I realized it was deciduous.

Thanks guys Yeah knew/had thought deciduous. I was curious though as I have read them also referred to as semi-deciduous and remembered seeing some late autumn / early winter in full leaf? I wasn't quite sure what semi-deciduous might mean but guess I just saw those ones before leaf fall. Looking forward to some possible colour Pretty rare up here!
