Hi All,
as the subject line suggests, I am wanting to get a hold of a Swamp Cypress, I am located in Perth, I do not particularly want a style tree, I am basically looking for something to grown on and style myself. I would be interested in evening a young sapling that I can start with.
cheers,
Jeff

Re: [WANTED] Swamp Cypress in Perth
Hey Jag,
I'm in Perth as well and there's not a heck of a lot of these. I just got some cuttings an hour ago myself and will try seeds again in March.
I know of at least four trees here to try to propagate from - two in Hyde Park and two in Ballajura. Probably loads more around the place but not a lot of 'stock'.
I'm hoping they rocket along as much as people say because i'll be starting with a stick.

If you grown them in a large pot, say 40-50cm in diameter, you will get massive thickness in 5 years at the trunk, just cut back the trunk once a year, so you don't have a massive ugly cut in 5 years time.

Re: [WANTED] Swamp Cypress in Perth
I would be suprised if Bonsai n Bamboo doesn't have some Swampies in the jungle out front .
otherwise try calling these guys http://www.smalltreefarm.com.au/tree-catalogue.html (swampy shown near bottom) Price list shows they had them this year. Cutting are best from younger wood.
