all looks good but I'm too lazy for all the input--
--perhaps if I was commercial not hobby--I'll probably
just stick to my daily water and daydream method

To the droiders out there, would you consider a subscription model for an app if you really liked it? How much is a good bonsai app worth for you? I'm an Android developer and beginner bonsai-ist.

You are the perfect guy it seems. A bonsaist developing a bonsai app sounds very exciting to me. From all the input on here you can develop the perfect app too mate. I'll be willing to pay $5 max if it suits all my needs

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
Most apps seem to be about $5-$10 but have no idea how many would interested to buy.
Many will be but not everyone will want to pay up and having to manage a ongoing subscription would be harder IMHO.
So long as the data was replicated to any of the devices ( synced to google drive / Dropbox) so that it would be available on all devices and backed up would be cool. I woud be stumping up for it if it did that.

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
I agree with what Ken says,I have been using an app called Bonsai Collection available on Google Play but it has a few issueskcpoole wrote: So long as the data was replicated to any of the devices ( synced to google drive / Dropbox) so that it would be available on all devices and backed up would be cool. But yes I would be interested at about 5bucks to have it available on a few devices and not to have to pay for each one,in the meantime I will continue to use Bonsai Collection that is either free (with Ads) and I think you can sync with other devices although I have not quite worked out how to do that or there is a paid version which is virtually the same without the ads.

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
I'm old school. I just take the picture, then download it to my pc, and back it up on my hard drive, otherwise, I've been burnt before using online storage, where the data gets corrupted. After all, an app, or a cloud server, etc etc where the data is actually being stored, literally just means, it is being kept on a data hard drive somewhere in the world, and if that gets damaged, say bye bye to your pics forever. The terms and conditions you agree to waiver you from them being responsible for losing any data.

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
Yeah, I dabbled in creating android apps as well, but it ended up taking way too much of my time... and I was only creating free apps, so not getting paid for it didn't help
was fun though
I'd happily pay for it... but not on a subscription basis, just a one off fee. It'd need to be good though, as other apps of the type are all free... but I would happily pay for an app that has the right features, and proper support
Thats a good idea using Evernote though, I've got that on everything, and didn't evne think to use it (Cheers Mojo)

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
Not sure if you guys are aware. But this forum has a gallery option already included. You can just upload the pics to your gallery and annotate each one to record your information in each folder for each bonsai.
gallery/album.php?album_id=324
One of the great things about this is, other members here can also view your gallery and not have to search through endless posts to find an update on that tree that they are wanting to follow the progression on.

Re: Apps to manage and Track your Bonsai
I made a quick survey (just 4 questions) https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8MTNDP5 for those who might be willing to suggest some features and to help me find out if it's investing time into development.
Also, for the keen, here's a mailing list http://eepurl.com/XW_lr if you want to be kept in the loop regarding this apps progress (if it happens) and if you want to help out and be a beta tester. I'd appreciate feedback to help with the apps direction!
I would really love to do this but no promises about whether it will happen yet though. Got to make sure I'm going to be able to put food on the table
Cheers,

Cheers,
Go for it mate, all the apps out there are pretty basic and in other languages and you could even keep all your own bonsai on it.
