Prunus - of the Plum Variety

I should really put these flowering bonsai into the thread that Ken has started on spring flowers but of course I think that "plums" need their own place to be appreciated.

Hi all,

Does this prunus have fragrant flowers and are they small flowers as well ? - I have always wanted one.

Yeah, agreed, they look so stunning in flower with such delicate and petite flowers. I have Prunus Elvins, but I need to maybe try a few other varieties. Elvins is great material to use. Buds right back from the trunk, and responds well to anything.

This is its sister - I dug them at the same time. These are both greengage plums and they fruit very well. Its a real treat to eat a fruit off your bonsai.

All amazing trees Watto. Great shallow pots also, well done.

I imagine it would be a unique feeling eating fruit from your bonsai.

I don't have any plans to move the planting position of the triple trunk in the near future as I like the "off-set" look. The right hand side as you look at it needs a trim to bring it back into shape and that will happen after flowering is over.
Like all flowering bonsai I think we enjoy the flowers and then we try to regain control of the growth patterns.
Anyway, here is another one that has only a few flowers (its new to bonsai as well) and it has the standard red plums.

That pot is a hand made one off pot by Australian potter Janet Selby. She is a Sydney potter who will have a table at the Sydney show in early October so if you are keen, there is an opportunity.
