Depends on what you want. If you are happy with the size of the trunk already, then it obviously wont put on massive growth for anything you pot which is a tight fit around the roots. If you are planning to re pot the tree again in only one season (why?), I would say that is too much stress on the tree, but it depends on what condition the tree is already in etc etc.

Re: help please !?
Why are we talking about pot size fitting the roots? Surely you choose a pot to match the size of the canopy and trunk???? If the roots are too long to fit in the pot that matches the tree then the roots are just too long and need to be cut further
I don't think you'll develop ramification in a pot that is too small for the roots. I'd be looking for a training pot that was a bit bigger if I wanted ramification to develop reasonably quickly, even if it was a bit too big for the tree. However, sooner or later you'll need to get it into the correct sized pot and the roots will need to fit. Better to cut them now than later.
