hi guys and girls. Was wondering what direction i should take with this little tree. Ive dug it out the neighbors yard and it has recovered well. Just need to know how to style it. Wire it and if i should go for a broom style or informal upright. Has a 1mm trunk and is about to go into hibernation. just kiddin. Uploaded the photo on the off chance this website is running in 30 years and i can see where it started From. Seriously though it is on 1 mm and about 3 months old. Fingers crossed it outlives me :fc: will be good to look back in 30

I would trunk chops this puppy just below the first branck on the right had side to encourage taper and Improve ramification.

How has the leaf reduction been progressing?

Judging by the leaf I would say a Robina or gleditsia but at that age its very hard to tell! Could even be an Acacia as their immature leaf is bipinnate also

OMG! So much potential in such a little space. :o

Get some wire on that puppy real quick... not that piddling little 1.0mm stuff but the honking great 5mm "you will bend to my will" enforcer.

Then again, might be a time for a beer and quiet contemplation... your choice.
Peace

some people would think that in real life too!.

Getting back to the tree, I think the skillfully place accent stones set the setting off nicely too :-)
The patina on the pot is just lovely and shows that it is of true quality and age, but for me is a little on the deep side to make a nice show quality setting.

I like the Zen Garden/Penjing look you're going for.

Do you have an updated photo so we can see how well it has developed?

I'm with Ken on this one, bi-weekly updates would be a great way for us to see this fast-developing tree grow.
