Disappointed with managers of wholesale nurseries that do this.

I make a point of not trying to take margins from my subcontractors either. For my mind it means we all get more from our work. Not sure why a manager would risk annoying people who buy $1000s of dollars a month of stock to please a few people who will by $50 worth of plants at a time ?

Managers that do what ? Promote their business and offer trade passes to a select few people ?? By the way the trade pass doesn't get you a cheaper price, everyone pays the Same price be it customers that spend 5,000 a week or $50 a month. Our suppliers set the price not us . And any customer that wants out coz they see "retail customers" shopping need to realise we wouldn't have the money to offer as much variety of product and for the place to run the way it does without all the small purchases. It's sad to me that a nice gesture gets taken out of context even in a forum with something as innocent as bonsai and people sharing a love of plants . Disappointing

Justify it how ever you would like wood wizard. I'm sure you are a nice person and there are now a few on here that will think you are wonderful but the bottom line is,You are a wholesale nursery selling to retail customers. You said it yourself. You are only supposed to give trade cards to people in the plant trade industry.
