Picked up this old boy from a local native nursery the other day for cheap (they dont just do natives) but it looks like some sort of pine/conifer, ID would be fantastic, the owner said a guy swapped him for some things many years ago and said its 10+ years old.

I'd love to get some feedback on what the best style would be to shape the tree, obviously a format upright would probably be best best, or some sort of windswept look with possibility of exposed peeled bark on the other.. got a nice little bit of exposed root too, needs some good tlc.I'm relatively new to bonsai, a few years, just this one ive been stuck on, got abit excited for the price / look / age and decided to buy it, any help would be appreciated !
