[Steven] Casuarina torulosa 3
• Species name: Casuarina torulosa
• Current height: 540mm
• Origin: Bonsai South
• Cost: $10
The branch stubs down low on this are dead and will be removed. I'll cut it back to the 2 lowest bits of foliage and hopefully be able to create a tree from there. Nothing like a challenge!
The curved trunk is not from wire and I suspect it is due to stretching for the light when it was younger.
Regards,
Steven

Very nice specimens Steven, and both of this years Casuarina look a lot like last years. It will be interesting to see how these develop in relation to each other. Good luck!
Cheers, Karl

Re: [Steven] Casuarina torulosa 3
Chopped the top a couple of weeks ago and there are now new buds around the top
I'll let the grow freely for a while before selecting the ones to create the framework from.

Steven

Re: [Steven] Casuarina torulosa 3
This one has pushed out a lot of new growth but I'm yet to do any real styling. The wire that is holding 2 branches was just done in a bored moment a few weeks ago:

I strongly agree. Nice stock and a healthy specimen with plenty of options.Steven wrote:190mm tall and I think this one has a good future ahead of it![]()

This is lovely. I can see this naturally growing out over a creek or sandy beach. I like it a lot

Re: [Steven] Casuarina torulosa 3
This one is in need of a repot as I've noticed the water is pooling on the surface. It also looks like it has deteriorated in health since the last update.
