Can anyone help.
I thought you could trim off the bark down to cambrium, hormone powder and plant back into fresh mix, wait 6 months or more and chop off bottom part. Would this work.
im no expert but i dont see why it wouldnt u could always just cut it off and put it in hormore powder and just put it in a humid environment and it will grow new roots ficus are bloody hard to kill lol

I like gardening - it's a place where I find myself when I need to lose myself.
You could just chop it, dust it and leave it to sprout, but ficus are really satisfying to air-layer; almost guaranteed success! I just layered two Moreton Bay figs and couldn't believe how quickly they struck. If you want to get some practice with the technique, go for it!
1. Total saw off and grow as a cutting - likely above 50% success and even more % if you do it right.
2. Airlayer - likely above 80% success and even more % if you do it right.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
