I am very excited to see what you do with this Steven. Its a great piece of material.
Having seen some of your shohin in the past, I'm sure you will turn it into greatness.

Re: [Steven] Allocasuarina littoralis
I repotted this one out of the ideal season (mid June) knowing that it would sulk (and hoping it would live) cause I reduced the roots by about 95%. Now that the weather is warming up I'm happy to see it bursting with buds.

Very powerful tapered trunk. One to watch for

A stick in a pot is better than no stick at all. Remember even the best bonsai started as a stick.

Re: [Steven] Allocasuarina littoralis
My leader has died back to the trunk which will really set the development of this one back. I think I'll need an extra year to get this one looking good.

Re: [Steven] Allocasuarina littoralis
Unfortunately, due to the leader dying and there not being anything in a decent position to take over, I don't see a bright future in this one for this comp. It's a shame cause the trunk has great movement.

Steven

That's a shame! I can still see a grin in the bark though, so hopefully the tree will have a nice surprise for you in the future!Unfortunately, due to the leader dying and there not being anything in a decent position to take over, I don't see a bright future in this one for this comp. Re: [Steven] Allocasuarina littoralis
Something got in under the bark and had a feast. This one's not looking like it's a contender for the competition.
