I’m gob-smacked.
People that know me know that I’ll never get personal (or very, very rarely) ... I’m not here for that but ... wow! This is testing me....
I guess whoever just views it as a good business decision but it seems a long way from the spirit of the offer that was made by Pierre (and previously Kirky too).
Bonsai teaches me patience.

Realistically though, giving stuff away doesn't generally have any conditions attached... so Mick is entirely within his rights... the fact that he's asking that outrageous price is probably more of a problem, yes?
Does anyone think he'll have a hope? If Gumtree works its usual magic, he'll be getting offers of $10 or less....

Yep, sure is within their rights ... no drama there. Upon reflection, it probably explains why I am not crawling over piles of cash; I'm not smart enough to recognise the opportunity to make some coin.

Tending bonsai teaches me patience.

Name and shame the culprit, that is unacceptable behaviour and others should know not to trust this person or allow them any special favours again. Enthusiest are trying to share the Bonsai love and grubs like this are just trying to take advantage of other peoples generosity.

With all due respect to everyone on here, we don't know the situation of the seller.
A 'gentlemans agreement' is one thing, but taking a free item from someone and then selling the item is not a crime.
My personal thoughts on the situation may be different, but I do not believe this should condone a public vindication of someone.
I have given away literally hundreds of trees and pots over the years and occasionally I have seen those same pots/trees sold.
It still gives me great satisfaction to know that many people have learnt and enjoyed the gifts.
As my wife continually points out to me, you can't hold the same values as yours onto others. Know that if you give an item away, you are helping that person regardless of their future intentions. Everyone has their own circumstances.

I agree, no need to name. Its one thing to give them away but who would ever ask for free tree anyway? I'm sure they will reassess future endeavours after reading this thread.

Re: A few trees for free, Brisbane North side
Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your inputs and different view points.
I sent yesterday a message to... The wrong person... Sorry mate!
I have received a message this morning from the new owner of the tree, with explanations and apologies for misjudged action. As far as I am concerned, this tree is his, and the "case" is closed, I never had any intention of revealing his/her identity, it was a matter (if ever, really) between us.
Please let's move on and let this thread to rest. I have way too many tree to repot and so little time!!
Kind Regards to all,
Pierre
