Melaleuca tamariscina
I purchased this from the Wildflower Place at Erina $16 in a 4 inch tub. If I had known how beautiful this species is I would have bought them all. I've been on the lookout for more ever since.
I can't remember when I purchased it, but it was about 3 - 4 years ago.
Placed into a Pat Kennedy pot (Australia). Yes, I know its over-potted but I don't have a choice at moment.
Its very hardy, and has tolerated many times being dried out by accident. The weep is beautiful and Myrtle Rust has no effect on it.

Re: Melaleuca tamariscina
I bought three of these a couple of years ago. Beautiful foliage and pretty flowers. I planted two in the ground and kept one for the pot. It's growing very well in my open mix in a cascade pot. The foliage currently hangs twice the height of the tall container, and trains easily. The potted version doesn't flower as well as the ground-dwelling version.
There are a few Queenslanders growing what they call M. irbyana, which is very similar.

Hi Mel....
Thats funny, I have actually grown M. irbyana as well. Its also beautiful but I forgot to water it one day and it died.
If you want to post a photo, just do it in another thread though. I'm trying to keep my progression threads with only photos of the actual tree so its easier to scroll through the timeline
Yes, I have seen this flower as well as it finally flowered soon after we moved. Its really beautiful.
I did love my irbyana and I wish I hadn't lost it. If I find another one, I'll be sure to buy it.

Thank you. I didn't mean to offend. I always love your input though and would LOVE to see your irbyana. I think Bougy up in QLD was growing them too.

Re: Melaleuca tamariscina
No offence, I understand.
Mine was sold to me as Melaleuca "Flossie" and the only references I could find linked it to M. tamariscina, with mention of M. irbyana being in the same family. As we know, the nursery naming biz is pretty unreliable....
