
so what i do is... choose a front from the pics at hand, this time its the fourth one for the stronger nebari to the left, and the feature up the trunk a bit to the right to make a nice big broom. this type of tree will take some time to achieve, but this is how i see it...
your eye should start at the stronger side of the nebari and go up the trunk to the feature on the right, so first movement will be slightly right.(blue arrow)
i was then thinkin to have the foliage triangle slightly to the left, similar angle to eye movement up the trunk, less 90 degrees (green arrow) for a well balanced, static tree.

then like a real bonsai, start at the nebari.
i then have a look at what pics i have, and if there's a branch i like, snatch it and chuck it in. at this stage i also use the clone stamp tool to direct where the main branches come out of the trunk.
when i'm done with that i look at what pots are available, stands and such, and smash her in a pot... BAM

and i usually have a play with filters, but i don't always show you guys what becomes of the filter fondling
