No not quite, I left it as it was and it sprouted well, then I cut it back low and it sprouted very well again but unfortunately not right around the cut, only on one side so I don't know what to do with it now, maybe try grafting a branch where I need one, heres a pic so you can see what I mean...

Carve that one down, make a shohin and go dig another few out. :P
