Depends whom you have in mind...
I'm dieing to attend, would be very interested if you could arrange someone prepared to spend time on the attendee's trees not just one showcased item for work. I would pay a fee to attend a seminar, but would be more interested in 1 on 1 time etc. I would pre-pay $200+ for an hour with someone skilled, willing to advise on my trees.
so yes, I am definitely interested in anything you can arrange...
I would also like to take the time to thank you for the effort. I don't see much for you to gain out of this, except a head ache, so believe everyone should be very thankful. Not just anyone could arrange such an event.
Thanks.

Re: International Artist In Oz For Workshops
Thanks Mitchell, my plan is for workshops only - no demos!
Hi Pup - If I get enough interest from Perth - we would come (I know I would love to go there).
If the interest is there, I will make it work, same goes for any city.

Re: International Artist In Oz For Workshops
Mitchell when Hirotoshi Saitoh comes to Perth, we have in the past had him conduct private Critique sessions. On your trees a 3 hour session cost is $ 400-00, or was in the past, plus you get a drawing or two of the tree's. It has always been a winner, some members have allowed other members attend these sessions free.
There is one proviso, the visitors are reqested to observe only, no comments within earshot of Hiro, otherwise you will be asked to leave. After all he is conducting the critique.
I have had two of these sessions and can highly recomend them. I also got one for free in 1996 when he came to lunch prior to going to the Airport. His flight was at 11pm and we were taking him.
Cheers

Re: International Artist In Oz For Workshops
interesting idea Leigh!
will this be more confined to major cities? It just makes me wonder as there are a fair few people that live up here and beyond, plus the sunny coast club members and people. I would definately be happy to save my pennies to get to a solid workshop with some trees!

Re: International Artist In Oz For Workshops
Gday leigh, iam new to this site and also new to bonsai, i think this is a great idea for everyone in bonsai, even better for the people that are starting out based on confident levels such as myself. I was thinking of going to the uk for family holiday, well really it was to meet or try and meet Graham Potter from KaizenBonsai, had to use family as key word to satisfy the misses. Also a fan of Kevin Wilson who i believe trained Graham Potter.
Due to own business priority i find it hard for a bonsai club, i had actually missed my first one in yarraville on the 4th oct.
fantastic idea keep at it.
cheers

Always keen for a workshop Leigh and sounds interesting, just hope I can make it
I like the idea of paying a little more for fewer people and more time. Travel and accommodation are my biggest cost!

Once I get my workshop sorted out I will fit it with a bathroom and bunk beds - enough for everyone - then there will be no accommodation costs!!!!Bretts wrote:Always keen for a workshop Leigh and sounds interesting, just hope I can make it![]()
