Acacia pravissima.
But, looking online, the leaves are perhaps different. Sorry.

yea thats not the right leaf shape but no stress no need to be sorry
I actually had a look today and it has a small, white flower much the same sort of flower as a bottle brush but much much smaller, flowers are no bigger than a twenty cent piece.

Re: [ID] native?
Jamie,
Melaleuca stypheliodes ( common name prickly paper bark ) this description is from the book by John W. Wrigley and Murray Fagg. Bottlebrushes pPaperbarks and Teatree's and all other tree's in the leptospermum alliance.
Grows in coastal swamps.
A tall shrub or small tree, with papery bark the young leaves and shoots are hairy. The ovate to broadly ovate, bright green leaves are slightly twisted and 4--25mm long.
The creamy white flowers are borne in an often leafy terminal bud or upper axillary spike.
There is also a variety called stypheliodes var squamophloia. The same as the type except, it grows in wet black soil plains in wetter areas. and the bark is scaley.
It is thought to be a hybrid between M, bracteata and stypheliodes the flowers have more stamens than the type.
Which are in bundles of 12-15
.
Cultivation is easy as the tree is hardy and attractive, and is used as successfully as a street tree. It is also frost hardy
. In the book there is a photograph of them planted as street trees in Grafton, NSW.
I hope this helps you make up your mind. As I believe it is one of them as I said at the beginning.
The ISBN 0 207 16867 9.printed by Angus and Robertson.
