thanks guys
for all the replies i am going to repot it into a bigger pot and let it go undisturbed until late spring and then do the root check and
prune and cut back

Hi Dean sorry for the slow reply. I don't know of any better time to prune casuarina. I tend to just do mine when the time seems right and have not experienced any trouble. The limited experience I have with re potting I do that in early spring but have collected mid Smmer with great success as well.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
