Variegated Bougie - Progress

Post by AGarcia »

Here are some progress pictures of a red flower, variegated Bougie that was dug from a friends garden.
April 2009.

The next shot are the before shots when it was styled at a workshop with Pup in September 2010.

I did some carving on the large side stump that was removed and the top section to reduce the height.
January 2011.

The tree was pruned, wired up and repotted.

Here it is after a couple month's growth. March 2011

After a bit of pruning to encourage branch growth.

The basic branch structure is there, it just needs the growth and wiring as I go.

Very nice Garcia love the trunk movement. I usually put variegation as a minus but it seems very interesting :tu:
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I agree, the colour of the leaves add something else of interest. You should definitely post some photos when it flowers! I like the movement of the trunk as well, it looks natural.

Hi AG

Another nice Boug in your collection. Great trunk movement. Looks like a slight tilt to the left would improve the balance and direction if the roots permit. :imo:

Will develop nicely this one.

Best Regards

Tony

Albert that is coming along nicely, for a variegated plant. Ithink you might have forgotten, the tilt was mentiond at the time as an option with the same proviso.

How is the Claret tops and those Buxus coming along?. Looking forward to meeting up with you again, if you are still coming and I do have your cutting well established now.
Tell Jess I have not forgotten, the two original plants did not make it in our bloody hot March I lost four very nice Shito cuttings. Ah well you cannot win the all.

Cheers Pup

Hello Pup,

..for a variegated? Anyway, the buxus had a cleanup today ready for the show. The wife is proud of her little tree. It is sitting a little high as I killed her last one I repotted, so she erred on the side of caution. Next repot it will be lowered a bit.

The melaleuca is doing well. I will eventually get around to posting some progress shots of it. In the meantime, here is a shot of it before I pruned it last month. There were alot of doubting thomas' regarding whether it would survive the root prune.

See you in May.

That bougy is beautiful. Great work. A real credit to the photographer as well.
