Catlin Elm 1967 - NBPCA - 360 degree viewing

Post by NBPCA »

Catlin elm. A variety of Chinese elm. Dating back to the mid 1960s, this tall elm was grown from nursery stock. When purchased it was first grown in a bonsai pot and then planted in the ground for 5 – 6 years in order to develop faster. From then on, it was trained as a bonsai, gradually acquiring the look of a venerable giant. Note the heavy trunk base and the low growing branches.
The artist shows a thorough knowledge of trees in nature and in bonsai, skillfully combining the two.

Hi Jamie, I have had it for a while, I have kept the essence of the original stylist's tree, but the tree has definately become better with time. It is looking better than it ever has and it's time at the NBPCA has done it wonders.
Cheers,
Leigh.
