Above photo taken 15 April 2013 This was a stock plant purchased from a council nursery for $18, and I was quite excited to finally find a Casuarina, and not the Allocasuarina (rough bark) of this variant. Besides, at least you don't have to worry about damaging the bark on these guys. I filtered through the few stock they had left to find the stumpiest and fattest little guy, and this was the one that winked at me. Although I do love the bark on the Allo's, it is nice to get a change and try something different like this.
Above photo taken 21 October 2013 After cutting back to a shorter stock, it has shot forth some new options, so just waiting for the new leader to thicken up. I love the bark on this Casuarina. It was repotted and pruned in August sometime.
