Just thought I'd post another fig I've been playing with over the last few days. Pretty happy with it so far and am thinking of creating a semi-semi cascade type thing[SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]
I Like the look of this one, Id be inclined to add some more drama to the branches by putting some more bends in them and drawing them down a little lower to add a weighty look to them…what do you think?
Yeah I can see where your coming from. It's going into a proper pot hopefully today or tomorrow so once I play with the planting angle a bit I'll tweak the wiring and see how it looks.
Cheers, luke
That is a fantastic piece of stock you got there Luke. Great score
Was this also one you acquired from the Newcastle Bonsai show?
Rory I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Bonsai: Casuarina Leptospermum Banksia Phebalium Baeckea Melalueca Ficus
Nice trunk, nice wiring. If you look at the second branch on the left, it has a lot of curves close in - the rest of the branches might harmonise better with it if you match them - sharper curves closer in. And remember, branches will shoot leaves at their ends - don't be afraid to shorten branches, as they will only get longer over time. Keep it tight early, then as time moves on, the complexity grows outwards, if you get my drift.
Please keep posting this tree as it develops.

Thanks everyone!
Sorry I havnt been able to reply to posts for some reason... This beauty is all trunk, I've had it for a while-at least 12/13 years. I actually tried to sell it about 8 years ago for $20 lol. The fern is a little birds nest which came up naturally about three years ago, I seem to be able to keep it fairly small by constantly taking leaves off! Thanks for the suggestions and kind words, I see what you mean re the curves, I'll work on them today.
Cheers,
Luke.
Hi lukeaaustin,
Do you think it would enhance the tree if some of the branches were lifted at the ends? In the photo I have marked some branches with Red arrows, these could be lifted. The branch with the Blue arrow shows how you have lifted the end of that branch.

Looks good just wondering if the top would be better wired and bent to the left a bit to remove the straight section and the third branch from the top become the new leader? Cutting at the base of the branch and hopefully getting a new bud/ branch in this position to grow to the left... Hope that makes sense!
