These two figs are my two very first bonsai trees. I am home visiting my family where my earliest bonsai creations still reside. They are very neglected but thankfully my dad gives them a water every now and then to keep them alive. they have just been defoliated and branches wired. The bigger tree is yet to be rewired.
I have had these two moreton bay figs since 2002 and they were what kicked off my love of bonsai. They started as 6 year old twigs in pots yet luckily were un-killable, not that I didn't try in hindsight.

Good on your dad for keeping them alive all this time, I can't even go on a weeks holiday without well meaning watering assistants killing several trees!

Good on you. Good to see you've still got your original trees alive. I don't have any of my originals alive, so congratulations.
Honestly, its the same for your trees..... through her eyes.
Setup a watering system for holidays.

If your wife is going to head out of town for a week, and she asks you to clean the house while she's gone. Will you?split007 wrote:Yep...2 of mine are dead from last week's holiday interstate...37 degree heat no water for 5 days....wife in trouble!!!! They are under 45% shade also. Not happy! Re: a quick clean up of some figs
I am pretty stoked they are still alive. I have been living in Tassie for the last two and a half years. In that time I have lost say 15 trees. The old boy has done a great job of keeping them going! He used to run a farm so knows the score.

I am the wife, and so neither the housekeeping nor the watering gets done if I'm away...If your wife is going to head out of town for a week, and she asks you to clean the house while she's gone. Will you?

I'm going to have to set up a watering system, clearly. Housework can wait.

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Re: a quick clean up of some figs
Lucky to have someone who can look after them properly Jarryd.
I especially love the ROR
did you plant it on the rock yourself?
If you have any photos of the trees in leaf I'd love to see them.
Cheers,
Pearcy.
