Progress report

I have cleaned out the foliage pads, peeled and cleaned the bark to reveal some wonderful colour and treated the deadwood with wood hardener and lime sulphur a week later.
Soon it will get a repot and then hopefully some vigor will return

What a fantastic history this tree has. It is nice to see it continue under your care. It would be a pleasure to own a tree like this.

Yes Elsie Gras was a warm and friendly president of the bonsai society of Victoria for a long time. Glad the tree has gone into your care mate.

Superb tree and history! It is looking really good and without the lower RHS branch it is more evocative than it was previously. Great job restoring its vigour and training it so beautifully. Ash

John Yoshio Naka, was a Japanese American, a highly regarded bonsai teacher and author. He visited Australia on several occasions in the 1970's. What separated him from other teachers was his great understanding of both Japanese bonsai and English language he passed away in 2004.

This tree was styled during one of his visits to Australia (1975) it is a blue star juniper.
