Hi there crazy kids, just wanted to know if anyone has ever bonsai'ed the above species. Saw it in a book today and the foliage is almost identical to that of a sargeants juniper. Difference is, you get beautiful red flowers as well. Only seems to grow up towards Darwin by the looks of it though.

Definitely no bonsai experience with this here, but sounds very interesting. Any chance you can post a picture? I'm having trouble finding one online.
Cheers, Karl

Yeah, same. Can't seem to find pics of it. Hi John, I was the one who came in and said hello at the Kensington Nursery to you about 4 months ago.
I hope you're well. I didn't bother with that Grevilliea, as I have too many projects going at the moment.

Re: Melaleuca punicea
I think this plant is more correctly known as Regelia punicea. It's endemic to Kakadu ntional Park in the NT.

Re: Melaleuca punicea
Very interesting indeed, great contrast between the foliage and the grey stems and the flowers. Might not like growing in the south. One for the Darwiniacs.

Re: Melaleuca punicea
We've tried a few other Regelias in our garden - i think species from south WA. They are spectacular in flower but seem inclined to curl up and die. Some have lasted a 4-5 years and the last one turned brown a few weeks ago.
