Hi there crazy kids, just wanted to know if anyone has ever bonsai'ed the above species. Saw it in a book today and the foliage is almost identical to that of a sargeants juniper. Difference is, you get beautiful red flowers as well. Only seems to grow up towards Darwin by the looks of it though.

I think this plant is more correctly known as Regelia punicea. It's endemic to Kakadu ntional Park in the NT.

Very interesting indeed, great contrast between the foliage and the grey stems and the flowers. Might not like growing in the south. One for the Darwiniacs.

We've tried a few other Regelias in our garden - i think species from south WA. They are spectacular in flower but seem inclined to curl up and die. Some have lasted a 4-5 years and the last one turned brown a few weeks ago.
